Questions

Who is responsible

This is the professional website of Professor Kun Fan. She is responsible for the personal data collected through it. For any question about this notice or about your data, please write to her through the contact form.

What data is collected

When you use the contact form: your name, email address, organisation (optional), the nature of your enquiry, your message, your consent, the date and time of submission, and, to prevent abuse, the IP address and browser type from which the form was sent.

When you browse the site: the site does not use advertising or social-media trackers. Like any website, its hosting platform processes technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) to deliver pages, keep the site secure and produce aggregated visit statistics.

Spam protection: the contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which analyses technical signals from your browser to tell people from automated programs. Cloudflare states that it does not use this data for advertising.

Why it is used

  • To read and answer your enquiry and, where an appointment is considered, to carry out a conflict check. This processing is based on your consent and on steps taken at your request.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent spam and understand, in aggregate, how the site is used. This processing is based on a legitimate interest in running a secure and useful website.

Your data is never sold, rented or used for marketing. You will not be added to any mailing list.

Who receives it

Your message is sent to Professor Fan’s professional mailbox and a copy is stored in the website’s database. The following service providers process data on her behalf, only as needed to provide their service:

  • Automattic (WordPress.com): hosting, security and visit statistics;
  • Cloudflare: spam protection on the contact form;
  • the email provider of Professor Fan’s professional mailbox.

Enquiries relating to disputes are treated with the discretion expected of an arbitrator and mediator. Please do not include confidential case details in a first message.

International transfers

Professor Fan is based in Australia, and the providers above may process data in other countries, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and any follow-up, and are deleted no later than 24 months after the last exchange, unless a longer period is required by an ongoing matter or by law.

Your rights

You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to its use, or withdraw your consent at any time, by writing through the contact form. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or, if you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, to your local data protection authority.

Cookies

The site does not set advertising or social-media cookies. The hosting platform may use cookies that are strictly necessary for security and for the site to work.
