A funded research programme examining how international investment law and investment arbitration accommodate sustainable development objectives. The project reviews the place of sustainability in investment treaty drafting — preambular commitments, investor obligations and the preservation of the host State’s right to regulate in matters of environment, labour and public health — and examines how tribunals have weighed those objectives against investment protection standards, including in disputes arising from the rollback of renewable energy incentives.
